Bakerfield College conducted a survey last month to determine the technology needs of their students. Finding that 10% of students do not have adequate off-campus internet access and nearly 25% of students use their cell phone as their primary device in accessing their courses prompted the launch of a laptop loan program.
A generous donation from Bakersfield community members, Mary and Greg Bynum, made possible the purchase of 500 Chromebooks for use by students in need of devices to continue their courses online.
