While the College of DuPage observes distance learning, library staff enhanced its existing online operation to include evenings and weekends. Staff is available in real-time online throughout the day via chat, email, and voicemail, as well as online appointments. Liaison librarians are also assisting faculty with the transition and booking individual appointments with students.
But the move to distance learning also presented a bigger problem – how to continue to provide technology for students without home computers. Through a campus-wide effort, students in need were identified and last week dedicated library staff distributed laptop computers to nearly 100 students to enable them to successfully continue their studies online.
